SECTION 02
Check-In, Breakfast & Quiet Hours
DAILY RHYTHMS
The high desert observes its own ancient clock. Our retreat functions in rhythm with the daylight arc, cool evening desert breezes, and radiant star canopies.
Warm Welcome
Arrivals begin at 3:00 PM.
We greet you with fresh iced botanical infusions, cold herbal towels, and orient you to the property layout.
Late arrival? Call ahead for gate lanterns.
Morning Baskets
Vegan & gluten-free custom trays standard.
10 PM Dark Skies
All external flood lamps and courtyard music are silenced at 10:00 PM to honor international dark-sky astronomy practices and deep rest.
Red-spectrum stargazing torches provided.
Late Checkout Request
Standard checkout is 11:00 AM. Unhurried midday departures (until 2:00 PM) can be granted whenever incoming cabin turnover permits at zero surcharge.
SECTION 03
Caring for the Desert & Fragile Crust
LEAVE NO TRACE
The living desert soil around KORA contains delicate biological crusts (cryptobiotic soil) that take up to fifty years to recover if crushed underfoot. We are honored stewards of this ancient terrain.
Stick to Marked Footpaths
Always walk upon established stone-lined paths or deep wash sand beds. Avoid stepping on dark lumpy soil formations—they are living bacterial colonies binding the desert against dust storms.
Mindful Spring Water Use
Our water is drawn from a 400-foot underground natural aquifer. While each bath is outfitted with luxury rainfall heads, we encourage guests to celebrate conscious bathing practices.
Native Desert Wildlife
Desert bighorn, kit foxes, roadrunners, and chuckwallas share these arroyos. Never leave food scraps outdoors, and observe all animals from respectful distances without drones.

"Don't Bust the Crust" — Biological soil communities
preserving our fragile oasis.
Wildfire Safety & Open Flames
SECTION 04
Screen-Free & Quiet Spaces
DIGITAL RESPITE
Guests travel to KORA to break the constant buzz of notification bells and reclaim deep human conversation, uninterrupted reading, and restful sleep.
Shared Living & Dining Areas
We kindly request no phone calls, video conferences, or speaker playback in the Library Pavilion, dining garden, or pool lounge. Headphones are mandatory for private listening in shared pavilions.
High-Speed Cabin Starlink
If urgent work demands your attention, high-speed encrypted Wi-Fi is provided privately inside each individual suite, paired with a solid cedar writing desk and power backup.
"Solitude in the desert is not emptiness; it is the presence of
everything the city crowds out."
A GENTLE INVITATION TO DISCONNECT
SECTION 05
Cancellation Protections & Weather Safety
TRANSPARENT CARE
The high desert experiences rare flash rain events, high wind sand currents, and extreme heat waves. We monitor local meteorology hourly to keep every guest safeguarded.
Adverse Weather Protection
If official road closures, flash flood advisories, or extreme sandstorm warnings make highway transit unsafe on your scheduled arrival day, you are immediately eligible for a 100% full booking credit or direct rescheduling with no penalty.
Medical & Wilderness Protocol
Our full staff maintains Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification. Automated External Defibrillators (AED), oxygen units, and direct satellite emergency communications link us directly with regional medical transport if required.
Companion Animal Etiquette
Well-behaved dogs are welcome in designated earth suites with advance registration. Pets must be leashed outdoors at all times due to indigenous desert wildlife and cactus spine hazards.
